The Flinders University Young Playwrights Award, by State Theatre Company of South Australia, is now open for submissions.
Aspiring writers aged twenty five years and under are encouraged to submit their best original work in the form of a one-act play (not previously performed or published) by Friday 1 June.
Bursary Awarded to State Theatre Company Marketing Manager
State Theatre Company Marketing Manager Kristy Rebbeck is the sole recipient of a marketing bursary supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, to attend the annual Arts Marketing Association conference, to be held in Brighton, England from 10 – 12 July 2012.
Offered for the first time this year, with only one awarded nationally, the bursary is the result of a partnership between the Australia Council and the Arts Marketing Association UK, and covers the cost of a conference attendance.
"The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)" to tour in 2013
State Theatre Company recently obtained a Playing Australia grant to tour The Complete Works of William Shakespeare nationally in 2013. It was presented at the Dunstan Playhouse as part of the 2011 season to fantastic feedback from critics, audiences and students.
New CEO and Artistic Director Announced
State Theatre Company of South Australia (STCSA) has announced Geordie Brookman and Rob Brookman as the incoming Artistic Director and CEO/Producer of the company respectively.
State Theatre Company Chair, John Irving, said the appointments marked a new era in the Company's long and proud history.
"We are very happy to have secured Rob and Geordie Brookman for the Company. The duo bring many years of combined experience, having worked at some of the major arts organisations in Australia. Geordie is recognised as one of the most interesting young Directors in the country and Rob is a highly respected figure in Australian theatre," Mr Irving said.
International Award for Voice for State Theatre Company 2012 Brochure
Adelaide-based design studio Voice has won another Certificate of Typographic Excellence from the internationally renowned Type Directors Club (TDC); giving the studio its ninth TDC win in New York.
State Theatre Company Artistic Director to move on in June
State Theatre Company's Artistic Director Adam Cook has today announced his intention not to seek reappointment at the end of his current contract. He will leave the Company at the end of June, following his production of The Glass Menagerie. Adam was appointed to the role in 2004 to succeed Rosalba Clemente and has been the architect of the last 8 years of State Theatre Company programs.
Cast Change in The Ham Funeral
Due to personal reasons Dennis Olsen has had to withdraw from the State Theatre Company and Adelaide Festival production of Patrick White's The Ham Funeral. However the Company has been fortunate to secure the services of Jonathan Elsom to play the role of the First Relative.
State Theatre Company CEO to move on in 2012
State Theatre Company Chief Executive Office Pamela Foulkes has opted not to renew her contract when it expires at the end of 2011, and will have her last day with the Company on 17 February 2012.
