Education Program 2010

"With a subject matter as broad as life itself, the arts easily relate to aspects of almost everything else that is taught."

- Charles Fowler, Author

In 2009 State Theatre Company made a commitment to further develop its vibrant Education Program. The success of our workshops, work experience program, Day with State performances and our touring production, The Dumb Waiter, provided students with rich, diverse and fulfilling theatrical experiences.

In 2010 we are offering a carefully crafted range of student experiences. Our main-stage productions include classics such as The Price by Arthur Miller and Entertaining Mr Sloane by Joe Orton, as well as the contemporary work Toy Symphony by Michael Gow, and a re-imagined version of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Imagine never seeing live theatre until Year 12?

“Given we live in a drought-affected community, and the over an hour’s travel each way the small group of Year 12’s was delighted at their first time seeing a professional performance.”
Mick Rosenblatt, Orroroo Area School

Not all schools have regular access to live theatre and so in 2010 we are expanding the reach of the regional tour of our new Education production, The 7 Stages of Grieving, to include Roxby Downs and Port Lincoln. We are grateful to ElectraNet for making this possible. We look forward to 2010 and hope that you are as excited by our program as we are.

“Creativity, interpretation, innovation and cultural understanding are all sought-after skills for new and emerging industries.”
Peter Garrett, April 2009

Besides, theatre is just great fun!
