FAQ's
How long does my script need to be?
We are looking for a one-act play that is around 15 - 20 minutes when performed. It can be shorter or longer.
I haven't finished my script in time, what shall I do?
Send in what you've finished along with a one-page synopsis of your play so that we can see where it's heading. If we like what we see, we may ask you to write some more.
What can I write about?
You are free to come up with your own ideas for a play. People often write about what interests them or what they know.
Do I need to keep a copy?
Always keep a copy of your work. Keep a copy on your computer or on a usb. If you win you will be asked to make changes and this is much simpler than writing out the whole piece again.
Are there any limitations to staging or sound?
No. You can choose to have different scenes changes and any sound ideas can be included in the script. If you are a winner the play will have a scripted-read on stage. This means that there will be no sets or costumes, or sound. Just lighting, some props and the actors on stage.
Can I email my application?

I've applied to Young Guns last year, can i enter again?
Yes, as long as you're still under 21 you can keep applying.
Can I send in more than one script?
Yes, just use your discretion and choose your best work.
I turn 21 after the due date can i still enter?
As long as you are under 21 at the closing date of April 23 we will accept your application.
