Risk Assessment
The following information will assist Teachers in developing an excursion risk management plan.
Venue
- The Adelaide Festival Centre is a working arts complex with four theatres and a variety of exhibition spaces.
- The Dunstan Playhouse and The Space are our main theatre venues.
- The Odeon Theatre is the venue for The Ham Funeral.
Emergencies
- All of the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Front of House staff are trained in emergency response procedures.
- In the event of an emergency please follow the directions of the Front of House attendants.
- The evacuation points are in Elder Park and the car park lawn.
- At all shows there are at least 1 Front of House supervisor and 2 Front of House staff.
- The Front of House manager and some additional staff hold first aid training certificates.
- First Aid Kits are fully stocked throughout the venue and a first aid room is also located at The Dunstan Playhouse.
Access and Special Requirements
- A lift is available in The Dunstan Playhouse for students with special needs when attending workshops or a backstage tour.
- All venues have wheelchair access seating.
- Please advise us if any students require wheelchair access seating.
Appropriate facilities
- The Dunstan Playhouse and Space Theatre are a 5 minute walk from the Adelaide Railway Station and a 10 minute walk from Rundle Mall.
- Buses can drop off/pick up on King William St
- Parking for cars – Festival Centre car park or Convention Centre car park.
- For visits to The Odeon Theatre drop off is on Queen Street in Norwood. There is street parking available nearby.
- There are several cafes in the city and in the Railway Station and there is also one at the Festival Centre.
- Public toilets are located at all the venues.
